Anchor in the Darkness

Anchor in the Darkness

Anchor in the Darkness

By Tanushree Verma

Absorbing the tranquility that this dark night offered me, I wondered- will I find a silver lining in the cores of the darkness? I was looking for the non-existent it seemed, but then I remembered the saying, "We value the importance of light when faced with darkness."

It is not difficult to find a silver lining on sad days. One says it is a bad phase, not a bad life. All you need to do you is find an anchor to hold onto while the storm of sadness passes by you. That anchor can be anything from joyful memories to your best friend's companionship. Those days of misery are important so that you appreciate the days of happy smiles, never-ending laughter and goofy grins. Spend some time with yourself and decipher the reason behind your lack of peace of mind. Then work on those reasons to set your life on track.

Situations are never constant just like time, so what makes you think the dark phase will stretch till eternity?

An anchor is all you need. On days of glory, this anchor will save you from pride, and on days of glassy eyes, it will hold you back from indulging into self-loathing. When you get lost into the darkness, you don't pray for light, that will be asking too much. You pray to be guided towards the light, you hope for a silver lining, you hope for hope.

Let hope be your anchor when you are left with nothing else to hold onto.
