Good evening folks!! Up for the Diwali blast? Happy Diwali or Happy Dhanteras to all my readers. So, I am here with a drink (or a dessert we can call it) today. It is Avil Milk and it is popular in Kerala.
Avil or Aval means rice flakes in Malayalam. So, as the name suggests the dominant ingredients are rice flakes and milk. First a plantain is beaten well in a glass and then rice flakes are added into it. Next milk and couple of spoons of sugar is added and again mixed well. This is then topped with fried peanuts and dry fruits.
This is very common all across Kerala. The dish will be very sweet and pretty cheap as well. The dish is not a drink to be exact as this has so much filling and will be handy if you are hungry.
Once again, I wish all of you a Happy and safe Diwali!!
Cost per a glass of Avil Milk: Rs. 20 to Rs. 40
- Most of the juice and dessert parlours in Kerala will serve this
