Good evening folks!! Hope you are having a great day. Today I am here with another delicacy from Kerala. This is Ada or Ilayada.
Ada or ilayada is a snack or breakfast dish which is common in Kerala and predominantly homemade. This is made from a dough of finely powdered rice. The dough is flattened on banana leaves, then coconut and sugar or jaggery will be evenly spread on this and folded. This is then cooked in a pan or tawa. Even this can be steam cooked in the Idli bowl.
This is very common during the Onam festival as this is used to offer to the god during the Onam. Other varieties of this ada with Jackfruit paste is also common. That is called chakkayada or chakkayappam.
This will be very sweet and it will have that slight taste of banana leaf which makes it more delicious.
The price and restaurants are not worth mentioning as mostly these are home made. So, get hold of your Malayali friend and enjoy this delicacy from God’s own country.
