Good evening folks!! Already in the weekend mood and up for a blast? Today I am here with another dish which I have seen in Andra. This is Punugulu.

Punugulu is a breakfast dish or street food which is very common in both the Telugu speaking states. This made from the batter similar to one used for Dosa or Idli. So, the contents used are very familiar, Rice and Urad dal. The batter will be usually fermented which gives a bit of sour taste to this dish. The batter is deep fried in the oil in small spherical shape, which makes the outer layer crispy and the inner layer very soft.

Usually Punugulu is served with some chutney. The common chutneys are Ground nut chutney, coconut chutney or tomato chutney. The outer layer will be light brownish in colour which makes it a bit similar to the bonda which is more familiar across the other parts of the country.

Cost per plate of Punugulu (10-12 Pieces): Rs. 30 to Rs.50
