America has often been touted as the centre of capitalism, where money matters more than culture, history or an experience, and Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, is one of those places that prove the naysayers wrong. One of the oldest cities in America, where people can trace their property holdings to as far back as the 17th century, Santa Fe is a beautiful and scenic city, chock full of adventure, culture and fun.

Prepare to be swept away by the central square at Santa Fe that’s a hive of buzzing activity. This is the heart and soul of the city, as such areas were designed to be in typical Spanish settlements, so take a seat here and watch life unfold for a true taste of Santa Fe.

Santa Fe is one of the biggest art destinations in the country, after New York City and Los Angeles, and it has been a favourite of the creatives in the past too. Artists like Georgia O’ Keeffe and and Alfred Stieglitz have been associated with the city. The music crowd hasn’t been left behind either— with the arrival of Igor Stravinsky in Santa Fe and the establishment of the Opera there. Naturally, being such a hotspot for the confluence of culture, the city has a lot of reputable and well-maintained museums worth a visit, like the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Palace of the Governors, to name a few, that will enrich your mind and leave you with a better understanding of the place you’re in. Meow Wolf is an innovative-style museum that isn’t the usual passive experience, so give that a try as well.

Visit the opera in Santa Fe as well, so that you know what everyone’s talking about— you won’t regret a minute. Santa Fe’s opera scene is still strong, and for good reason.

Santa Fe is also incredibly beautiful, with its own style of unique architecture that will surprise you with its distinct style at every turn. Do take the effort to walk around the city and explore, appreciate its architectural marvels. It’s not often one gets to be in proximity of cultural greatness like this, so drink it all up, every minute of it!
