1. Lingmala Waterfalls

Located at a distance of just 6 kms from the main bus stand of Mahabaleshwar, Lingmala Waterfall is one of the top tourist places of this town and is situated at the top of the beautiful Venna Valley, in the Satara district of Maharashtra. The waterfall is formed by the Venna River and is located at an altitude of 1278 m. This area actually has two waterfalls, the main waterfall and the mini waterfall. The mini one is  a great option for swimming and playing in the water. Visitors have to take a walk of 30 to reach to top point of the main waterfall, where they cannot get into the water, but the view point has magnificent views. The best time to visit is from the months of July through October, when the waterfall experiences its peak flow.

2. Elephant’s Head Point and Kate’s Point

Located about 7 km from the main Mahabaleshwar bus stand, Elephant’s Head Point and Kate’s Point are the most magnificent viewpoints in Mahabaleshwar, with breathtaking, picturesque views. The Kate’s point, named after the daughter of the then British governor, Sir John Malcolm, is located at an altitude of 1290m. This area actually has three points and gives beautiful views of overhanging cliffs and one can even view the Sahayadri mountain range from here.

3. Venna Dam and Lake

A popular spot for honeymooners as well as family tours, the lake was constructed by the ruler of Satara in the year 1842. Encircled by dense forests and lush green views, the Venna Lake covers a total area periphery of 28 acres. Tourists can enjoy this lake and go boating in the lake or enjoy a fun horse ride on the bank of the lake. This is also a great place for family outings, the banks of the lake have small eateries and also games and rides such as toy trains and merry go round, which is a major attraction for the children that visit.

4. Arthur Seat Point

Situated 13 km away from the main Mahabaleshwar bus stand; Arthur Point is another famous viewpoint in the hill station town and is also on the top places to visit in Mahabaleshwar. Named after Sir Arthur Mallet, this point is also often called the Queen of the Points and it is known for the exquisite view that shows a clear geological contrast between the Deccan and the Konkan regions. It is also known for the floating of light objects. If one was to throw a light object, like a bottle cap, it comes up again due to dense air pressure. To visit this point, the tourists are required to take a walk of 30 minutes to reach the top.

5. Krishnabai/ Krishna Devi Temple

Krishna bai temple is an ancient temple that is located a few metres away from the Panch Ganga Temple in Old Mahabaleshwar. The temple is believed to be the source of the Krishna river and has a mesmerising statue of the Goddess Krishna and also a Shiva Lingam. It was built in the year 1888 atop a hill with the view of the Krishna valley, by a ruler of Ratnagiri. The temple also has beautifully carved stone columns and elaborately designed ceilings, which are the main attractions and important characteristics of the temple.
